Mrs. Mary Lee Carter, 86, of Sardis, MS passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015.

Mrs. Carter was born on March 6, 1929 in Como, MS to The Late Leland B. Rhodes and Mary Still Rhodes. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sardis, MS where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. She retired as Vice-President of the Bank of Sardis after serving there for 47 years. She was a member of the Sardis Women's Club, served in the Heflin House and walked 3 miles a day up until recently.

Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Lee Carter Hitchcock (Brian) of Sardis, MS and two grandchildren, Ryne Hitchcock and Mary Farrell Hitchcock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Carter; her parents; one sister, Lynelle Simpson; and two brothers, James Rhodes and Laverne Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 2pm in the Sardis Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2015 in the funeral home from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 108 West Lee Street, Sardis, MS 38666.
