Mr. Dennis D. Sowell, 62, of Independence, MS, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto in Southaven.

Mr. Sowell was born on January 10, 1953 in Cockrum, MS to The Late Wilma Shackelford Sowell and Hubert Sowell. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved his family, his many friends and his animals, and will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanie Sowell of Independence, MS; three daughters, Shelly Bohlinger of New Mexico, Amber Sowell of California and Angie Martin (Tony) of Georgia; three sisters, Peggy Broadway of Independence, MS, Vivian Macris of Texas and Anita Graves of Louisiana; four brothers, Bill Sowell of Hernando, MS, Jimmy Sowell and Eddie Sowell, both of Independence, MS, and Tim Sowell of Coldwater, MS; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 2pm in Greenleaf Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
