Condolences

Condolence From: Doug Pittman
Condolence: I was so sad to hear that Uncle Bob had passed away. Living in California, I didn't get to see him as often as I would have liked, but I thought of him often, and I have many great memories of the times that we were together.

During a trip that the Bob Luttmans made to visit us in California, we took a trip to Universal Studios. Bob was volunteered to be in the Adam-12 skit. He was the guy beating on the phone booth door. He was perfectly cast. He stole the show!

When I stayed with him at his home in Mississippi, I had a blast! He was a great host. My first day there, he was showing me some of his guns and he accidentally shot a hole into the new curtains with a loaded shotgun. Once we found the hole (hidden in the creases) he boxed them back up, and we returned them to Walmart (didn't look good in the room, I think).

One evening the girls were watching Walker, Texas Ranger, I think, and Uncle Bob made a few comments about his time in Korea. He got out some photo albums from the war. I remember wondering where he would have had those graphic (death) photos developed. Anyway, he told me a little bit about a decision he made to save himself and a large contingent of his guys. He mentioned that the story was going to be an exhibit at a military museum somewhere soon. I didn't ask many questions, I could tell how it upset him.

During that same visit we had a party in my honor. We got all the remotely local family (Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi) to come. Uncle Bob barbecued (amazing food), and everyone had a great time. He was so kind. I was so happy to see everyone there.

We went gambling in Tunica that trip too. We had fun.

Uncle Bob always enjoyed telling stories about he and my dad when they were kids. And they were always entertaining. I'll miss that. I love you, Uncle Bob!

My condolences to Sherry and Garry, Ronnie and all the Luttman family.

Our deepest condolences on the passing of your Dad. He will forever be our "Uncle Bob". We have great memories of the time we all spent together as a family, fishing, barbequing and laughing. Our hearts are aching for you.
