Obituary for Rachel Christine Anderson (Henson)

Rachel Christine Henson Anderson of Sardis, MS, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family and the loving staff at Pinnacle on Saturday, November 13th, 2021. Rachel was born on October 19, 1930 to Hugh and Cleo Henson in Dumas, MS.

Rachel married James “Jim” Anderson in 1950 and the two moved to Sardis, MS in 1955 where they settled down and spent the majority of their lives. “Memom”, as she is lovingly known by her family, touched the lives of all who came to know her. In her professional life, she worked as a dental assistant, a teacher’s aid, and as a librarian at Greenhill Elementary School in Sardis. In her leisure time, she loved gardening, Bible study, sports, cooking, and spending time with her family and many friends. Rachel was a long time member of Davis Chapel Methodist Church and her love of Christ permeated every aspect of her life. In 2017, Rachel moved into Pinnacle Assisted Living Facility, where she came to know and love many new friends over the years. Her caregivers, the staff at Pinnacle, became more like family with each passing day.

Left to cherish Rachel's memory is her loving family, which includes her daughter, Cheryl Anderson Quarles of Hammond, LA; two sons, Francis “Jimmy” Anderson (Jill) of Southaven, MS, and John Henson Anderson (Shelly) of Collierville, TN; one brother, Jerry Henson of Dumas, MS; four grandchildren, James Walker “Henson” Anderson, Rachel Kristene “Krissy” Anderson Price, Matthew Quarles and Taylor Anderson; and seven great-grandchildren, Francie and AvaMalone Price, Matthew, Connor and Ellie Quarles and Dawson Anderson.

Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her sister, Nellie Henson Caviness; and her brother, William “Bill” Henson.

The family would like to take this opportunity to express their profound gratitude to you for your kindness shown during this time. They thank you for your prayers, cards, flowers, food, phone calls, texts, visits, and every act of kindness shown. Thank you and may God bless you.
