Obituary for Mildred Evelyn Bailey (Oswalt)

Mildred Evelyn Oswalt Bailey, 96, passed away on April 23, 2020 at her home in Oakland, MS. She was born on December 13, 1923 to Hattie Mae Oswalt and Charles Oswalt.

Mrs. Bailey was a lifetime member of Pope Baptist Church and was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed several hobbies, such as quilting, crocheting, and cooking. She loved her vegetable garden and especially took great pride in her tomatoes. Mrs. Bailey was generous to a fault and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She will be remembered as a very devout Christian lady, who loved the Lord, and her family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving family, which includes two daughters, Evelynn O. Elliott (Willard) and Linda Oakes (Robert), all of Pope; three sons, Charles Thomas (Patricia) and Raymond David Thomas all of Oakland and James Thomas, Dallas, TX; one sister, Loyce Fuggitt of Overland Park, KS; two brothers, Bill Oswalt and James Oswalt of Wichita, KS and thirteen grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, The Late Harold Bailey and her parents.

A private graveside service will be held at Enid Oakhill Cemetery in Enid, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pope Baptist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Dickins Funeral Home.

Due to social distancing restrictions, we must limit guests at the graveside to no more than 8 individuals; therefore, it is requested that the public respect a private family service to accommodate these requirements.
