Obituary for Luretta "Rita" Jones (Renshaw)
Luretta “Rita” Renshaw Jones, 94, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at Providence Assisted Living in Senatobia, MS. She was born in Memphis, TN, on Jan. 16, 1927, to George Andrew Renshaw and Lorena McCormick Renshaw.
Rita attended Snowden Elementary School and Central High School, where she was a member of Delta Beta Sigma sorority. As a wife and mother, she was a member of La’Leggro Circle of the Kings Daughters, Les Passes and was a Memphi Duchess in 1983. Rita lived most of her life in Memphis, TN, with her husband, Asbury and their children, until the 1980’s, when Asbury’s business relocated them to Oxford, MS, were they resided for 18 years. After Asbury’s death, in 2013, Rita moved to Providence Assisted Living in Senatobia, MS.
Rita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory, is her loving family, which includes her son, Asbury “Tripp” L. Jones, III of Olive Branch, MS and her daughter, Patricia Jones Stone (Fred) of Coldwater, MS; two granddaughters, Attorney Anna Katherine “Katy” Stone of Tampa, FL and Dr. Amanda Kay Stone Davidson (Cody) of Senatobia, MS; two great-grandchildren, Isabella Agliano of Tampa, FL and Lex Davidson of Senatobia, MS; her sister, Sue Renshaw Barnett of Germantown, TN; and her sister-in-law Natalie Jones Cooke (Hilburn) of Memphis, TN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Asbury Lewis Jones Jr, her parents, and her brother Paul A. Renshaw.
Due to Covid, funeral arrangements will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested to please make your donation to the charity of your choice. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with arrangements.
