Obituary

Mrs. Lillie May "Lil" Ellis, 78, of Sardis, MS passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

Lil was born on February 12, 1941 in Barr, MS to The Late Jessie Taylor May and Robert Lee May. She was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church in Sardis and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 55 years, T. Ray Ellis of Sardis, MS; her daughter, Deronda Ellis Brooks (Jack) of Olive Branch, MS; her sister, Betty Sue Harrison (Eddie) of Savannah, TN; her brother, Bob May (Laura) of Independence, MS; and her grandchildren, Ashton Brooks Winstead (Tyler) of Brandon, MS and Erin Brooks of Starkville, MS. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Williams; her brother, Truman May; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 11 am in the First Baptist Church in Sardis, MS with Rev. Bob Moore, Rev. Mike Jernigan, Rev. Ray Hawk, and Bro. Hal Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the church on Tuesday, December 10, 2019, from 5 - 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mrs. Ellis' memory to First Baptist Church, 108 W. Lee St., Sardis, MS 38666.

Arrangements are entrusted to Ray-Nowell Funeral Home.

Even though it was via personal messages on facebook we spoke often. I named my cat after Lil. This cat is sweet with me but spicy at times. There hasn't been nor will ever be another Lil. She was one of a kind and I will miss her.
