Obituary for James "Jimmy" Maurice Moore

James “Jimmy” Maurice Moore, 78, departed this life on August 10, 2020, in Walters, OK. He was born on May 2, 1942 in Al, MS to Maudie Mae (Tate) Moore and Joe Stanton.

Jimmy grew up in Arkabutla, Mississippi and was a 1961 graduate of Coldwater High School. He married Janie Duncan and they made their home in Mississippi. After her passing, he married Linda Dolman Greggs, in Coldwater, on August 8, 1979. They continued to live in Mississippi and later moved to Oklahoma. Jimmy retired from Miller Transport at the age of 58, where he was inducted into the Million Mile Club for safe driving. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Walters and volunteered with the food pantry and monthly meals on wheels for the church.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving family, which includes his wife, Linda Moore; one son, Randy Moore and wife Cathy; stepchildren, Rodney Greggs and wife Michelle, Montie Dulin and husband Ronnie, and Jody Dye; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great- grandchildren; five siblings, John Moore, Faye Schoggins, Murry Dickerson, Janice Grady and Robbie Lusk; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Moore; one son, Jerry Moore; his parents; one brother, Calvin Moore; and one sister, Polly Powell.

Jimmy will make the journey back to Coldwater, MS, where graveside services will be held at Magnolia Cemetery, on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Walters, OK; Cancer Centers of America; or Coldwater First United Methodist Church.
