Obituary for James Elbert "Jim" Creecy

James Elbert “Jim” Creecy, 71, passed away on May 6, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – DeSoto in Southaven, MS. He was born on November 28, 1948 in Blytheville, AR to Wanda Lee Smith and James Winfred Creecy.

Jim was a very devout Christian and a member of Wyatt Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He received a B.S. Degree from Arkansas State University and was one of the first in his family to graduate from college. Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he received extensive training in telecommunications. This led to a career he loved, which included helping to maintain the Red Flag Air Combat Training System and a twenty-year career in education, as instructor of telecommunications at Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia.

Jim will be remembered as an incredibly special man. His daughter, Kelley, described him perfectly when she said, "He was a humble servant who loved God, his family, and others. He did not seek recognition but served people with such love and generosity. He had a goofy grin and a song in his heart.” He was a loving husband and father and a wonderful brother, son, uncle, friend and teacher.

Among those left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife of forty-four years, Marshall Lea Creecy of Senatobia, MS; one son, Dr. Neal Harrison Creecy of Las Vegas, NV; one daughter, Kelley Marshall Creecy of Seoul, Korea; and one brother, Michael Harrison Creecy of Florence, AL and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Senatobia Fire Department, 137 N. Front St., Senatobia, MS 38668 or Wyatt Baptist Church, 30721 MS-4, Senatobia, MS 38668..

A memorial service will be held at Wyatt Baptist Church on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 2 p.m.
