Obituary for Howard Scates
Howard Scates, 61, of Harmontown passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital - North Mississippi in Oxford.
Howard was born on February 12, 1959 in Memphis, TN to the late Charlotte Howard Scates and Robert Lee Scates. Mr. Scates served many years as the maintenance supervisor for Senatobia Community Hospital and also for North Panola Hospital in Sardis. He served in the Mississippi Army National Guard. Mr. Scates enjoyed fishing and will be remembered as a friend to everyone and a person who never met a stranger.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his family which includes his two sons, Daniel Scates (Trinity) of Batesville, MS and Jason Scates of Harmontown; his sister, Julia Herring (Glenn) of Senatobia, MS; his brother, Don Scates (Tiny) of Harmontown; and five grandchildren, Robbie, Canaan, Sadie Kate, Ellie-Claire, and Chloie Scates. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family is planning for a memorial service to be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Ray-Nowell Funeral Home.
