Iva Grace Owens Mayo Dunigan, 91, went to be with Jesus, on September 7, 2022. Grace was born in Philadelphia, MS, on April 16, 1931, to Jackson Clinton Owens and Iva Elizabeth Cliburn Owens.
Grace grew up in Meridian, MS, where she played high school softball at Meridian High School. She loved music and was a very talented musician. As a teenager, on weekends, she played piano and sang gospel music on WCOC Radio. Grace graduated from Meridian High School and Meridian School of Music, in 1949. She continued to share her musical talent, throughout her life, by continuing to play and sing in churches, until she was 70 years old.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving family, which includes one son, K. Dale Dunigan and his wife, Vicki, of Looxahoma and one daughter, Rhonda Dunigan Johnson and her husband, Dr. David Johnson of Murfreesboro, TN; five grandchildren, Alan Dunigan, Paula D. Kile (Dale) and Kevin Dunigan (Alicia), all of Tate County and Nathan Johnson and Chris Johnson (Jessica), all of Murfreesboro, TN; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Thomas L. Dunigan her parents, her parents, and her foster parents, Grady and Lala Mayo; four siblings, Jack Marshall Owens, Charles Andrew Owens, Dorothy Owens Thornton, Vivian Owens Brown and one foster brother, Grady Lanoyette Mayo.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home -Senatobia Chapel. Visitation will be preceding the funeral service from 1 PM to 2 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery, following the service.
