Obituary for Gerald Wayne Lester

Gerald Wayne Lester, 79, passed away at his home, on Friday, May 28, 2021. Wayne, better known as "Coon", was born on September 26, 1941, in Oakdale, LA, to Bill and Gladys Lester.

In July 2005 Wayne moved from Oakdale, LA to Coldwater, MS. He was a devoted member of Looxahoma Church of Christ. Wayne was an incredibly talented carpenter, and one of which few could be compared. He loved his family deeply, and he will always be remembered for being a wonderful, kind and giving husband, dad, granddad, brother, and friend.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving family, which includes his wife of 30 years, Geraldine Oglesby Lester; one daughter, Wendy Lester of Coldwater, three sons, Gerald Lester (Debbie) of Bastrop, LA; Jeff Lester (Wendy) of Coldwater, MS and Trey Bledsoe (Vallerie) of Nesbit, MS; eight grandchildren, Ashley Bankston (Jason); Jessica Stewart; Hunter Lester, Nikki Rollo (Josiah), Gatlin Lester, Hallie Lester, Rachel Bledsoe and Cortlynn Bloodsworth; three great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Mildred Alexander; Faye Sims; Billie O’Quinn, Carol Crain and two brothers, Walter Lester and Charles Lester. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Jeff Edward Lester, II (Beau); his parents, Bill and Gladys Lester; one brother, Howard Lester and two sisters, Alma Alexander, and Joyce Wilson.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m.-3 p.m., on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Thyatira Church of Christ, Hwy 4 East, Senatobia, MS. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Thyatira Church of Christ, with interment to follow at Thyatira Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Looxahoma Church of Christ, 109 Lyles Rd., Senatobia, MS 38668, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
