Obituary for Elmer Clyde Newman

Mr. Elmer Clyde Newman, 90, passed away on Apri13, 2020 at his home in Enid, MS.

Mr. Newman was born on November 26, 1929 to Leona Cox Newman and Sylvia Russell Newman. He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in Enid. Mr. Newman served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed riding horses. He was a retired construction worker and farmer, both of which he thoroughly enjoyed. He will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who was devoted to his family.

Mr. Newman is survived by one daughter, Anita Traywick (Charles) of Pope, MS and one brother, John E. Newman (Jane) of Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine T. Newman, one sister, Lillie Belle Kiihnl and his parents.

A private graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Tallahatchie Cancer Society or Bethel Cemetery Fund.
