Obituary for Elizabeth Faye Davis (Welch)

Elizabeth Faye Davis, 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS after a long illness. Faye was born on January 4, 1949 in Tunica, MS to Mr. Edgar S. Welch and Mrs. Elizabeth Furr Welch. She grew up in Holcomb, MS where she graduated from Grenada High School. She went on to attend Northwest Junior College in Senatobia, MS. She married Roger Davis in 1968. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Elizabeth Welch and her sister, Sandra Tillman.

Faye was a vice president and loan officer of Citizens Bank & Trust Co in Tunica, MS. She worked for Citizens Bank for 38 years until her retirement in 2017. During her banking days, she went on to complete Ole Miss Banking School, LSU Banking School and finished her undergraduate degree from the University of Mississippi in 2001. In addition to her work, she also gave of her time through service organizations such as the Rotary Club, North Delta Regional Housing Authority, Tunica Chamber of Commerce and other various community and area organizations. She was also involved in her church, Hollywood Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. When she wasn’t working or volunteering, you could usually find her spending time with her family or shopping with her granddaughter, Claire.

Faye is survived by her husband, Roger, of Arkabutla, MS; one son, Brad Davis (Lisa) of Nesbit, MS; one daughter, Dawn Carver (Garrett) of Ruleville, MS; one sister, Betty Burrell of Holcomb, MS; two brothers, David Welch (Vicki) of Coldwater, MS and Terry Welch (Renee) of Holcomb, MS; 2 wonderful grandchildren, Davis Carver and Claire Carver of Ruleville, MS; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Hollywood Baptist Church, Sledge, MS; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.

There will be no public visitation and a private family graveside service will be held. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Senatobia has charge of the services.
