Obituary for Dorothy Ruth Chambers

Dorothy “Dot” Ruth Chambers, 83, passed away peacefully at her home in Coldwater, MS on April 14, 2024. She was born on December 2, 1940, to the late Louise Benson Diepholz and Martin Diepholz.

Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-granny. She was a member of Antioch Church of Christ in Coldwater, MS. Dorothy retired after many years of work as a secretary with the Juvenile Court of Shelby County in Memphis, TN. She was a wonderful example to everyone who knew her because of her selfless, caring, and positive attitude. Dorothy had a true servant’s heart and was always ready and willing to lend a hand wherever she was needed. She was a good cook and enjoyed taking meals to others in their time of need. Dorothy could often be found outdoors, either mowing the yard or tending to her beautiful rose garden.

Left to cherish her memory includes her husband of 64 years, Robert “Bob” C. Chambers; sons, William L. Chambers and Andrew T. Chambers; sisters, Janet Brown, Beny Loveless, and Mitzi Johnson; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Louise & Martin Diepholz and sister, Joyce Terry.


Visitation will be held at Ray Nowell Funeral Home in Senatobia on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.- 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Ray Nowell Funeral Home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Following funeral services, a private family graveside service and interment will be held at Dean Crawford Cemetery on E. Tate Road in Tate County. Memorial contributions may be made in Dorothy’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
