Obituary for Delford Leon Smith

Delford Leon  Smith
Mr. Delford Leon Smith, 83, of Como, MS, passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS.

Mr. Smith was born on February 1, 1935 in Alicia, AR to The Late Lular Steward Smith and Clifford W. Smith. He moved to Memphis, TN, where he raised his family, as a young man to find work. Mr. Smith retired from Barnhart Crane and Rigging in Memphis where he worked as a crane engineer. He was an avid fisherman and is fondly remembered by his family as a good samaritan who was a loving and caring person who always gave to others in need. He attended Solid Rock Assembly of God in Senatobia.

Mr. Smith leaves behind his loving family which includes his wife of 64 years, Martha Smith of Como, MS; two daughters, Debra Rose (Steven) of Muskogee, OK and Lynn Lowery (Nathan) of Wentzville, MO; one brother, Donald Ray Smith of Wentzville, MO; six grandchildren, Chad Rose (Chynthia), Jason Rose (Charity), Ashley Rose, Nathan Daniel Lowery, Jenifer Kelly (John), and Jonathan Wiegand (Stormy); four great-grandchildren, Ivy Lowery, Henry Rose, Josephine Kelly, and Jack Kelly.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Melinda Gay Smith and Regina Ann Smith Wiegand; one son, Michael Wayne Smith; six brothers and sisters; and his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 10am in the Senatobia Chapel of Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 6-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to LeBonheur Children's Hospital.
