Obituary for Clara Fay Putman (Goodwin)

Clara Fay Goodwin Putman, 76, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 at her home near Oxford, MS. She was born January 23, 1944 in Panola County to Ida Lee Epps and Ernest B. “Bo” Goodwin. Mrs. Putman was a lifelong member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher, nursery worker and Bible School teacher. She loved being a homemaker and enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening, fishing, reading, taking walks and watching game shows. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she especially enjoyed rocking her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Putman will be remembered as a kindhearted and generous lady, who loved everyone.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving family which includes one daughter, Dawn Cook (Chuck) of Oxford, MS; one son, Steve Putman (Tim) of Weatherford, TX; five sisters, Ruby Lawrence (John), Linda Holley, Peggy Turnage, Martha Denley (Sly), and Patsy Oliphant (Jeff); two brothers, Richard Goodwin (Patsy), and Buddy Goodwin (Jill); five grandchildren, Chaz Cook (Lauren), Erika Morgan (Johnathan), Mikki Gentry (Josh), Josh Cook (Lauren), Katie Belle and seven great-grandchildren, Graylee, Annalynn, Landry, Kinsleigh, John Paul, Charley-Kate, Maycee and soon-to-be Wayne Anderson and Cannon. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Wayne Putman; one brother, Ernest Goodwin and her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020, at 11 a.m. in the Shady Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held in Shady Grove Baptist Church on Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. and again on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., in the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to Dickins Funeral Home.
