Obituary for Donald Ray "D.R." Roberts

Donald Ray “D.R.” Roberts, 89, of Batesville, MS, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at his home in Batesville, MS.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Batesville, where he taught Sunday school for over 50 years and was a charter member of Batesville Civitan Club for 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was best known for his many years of teaching biology at South Panola High School until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and as an avid gardener, he was known for his tomatoes, which he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Hubbard Roberts of Batesville, MS; one son, Paul R. Roberts (Jill) of Batesville, MS; one grandchild, Brent Roberts (Candie) and one great-grandchild, Miles Ray Roberts. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Blanche Wilkinson Roberts and Andrew Dotson Roberts; two sisters and two brothers. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
